Hello and Welcome

Hello and Welcome to my Blog!

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Kara and I’m a bibliophile. To be honest, I’m returning to the world of books after a long hiatus. As a child, I was a voracious reader. I was able to travel to wonderful places, make new friends, and enter a world of pure imagination through the pages of books. I remember the local town library was in this old Victorian house, divided into 2 sides – the children’s side and the adult side with a beautiful open room separating the two. My favorite section was the stack located in the far back corner on the adult side. It housed many treasured books featuring true stories of animals. I can’t remember the names of all the books, but they were my favorite growing up.

As an adult, my tastes changed. Being a single mother of 4, I was drawn into the world of romance novels. I always had my nose stuck in a romance. Johanna Lindsey was my first introduction into that world when someone gave me the book “Shanna.” I was fascinated. I even started a blog “World According to Books” were I reviewed books and participated in a few challenges. After a couple of years binging on romance, I randomly picked up a John Grisham book, “The Firm.” My eyes were opened to Legal Thrillers, moving on to other mysteries and suspense novels. But then life happened and I somehow got distracted from my love of reading.

Fast forward to today. I’m focusing more on myself lately, pursuing what brings me joy and happiness. It took me a long time to realize that being true to myself was more important and brought more fulfillment in my life than trying to “fit in” and follow the crowd. I unpacked my camera (I love photography – and along with reading – it was pushed aside), and dusted off my bookshelves and began living again. I’ve created a bucket list (https://bucketlist.org/list/KaraT/) of all the things I want to accomplish and places I want to see.

I am so excited to see what 2020 brings. I wanted to start this blog to help me keep track of my reading challenges, but my hope is that it will turn into to something so much more – a way to connect to other readers, a chance to learn about blogging and improve my skills (I have a plan for a future blog about my travels), and to get back into to my love of reading!!

Hope to see you around the blogosphere and Happy Reading!!!!
